InSTRIDE Program

: In S.T.R.I.D.E (Steps, Toward, Recovery, Insight, Development and Empowerment) is a program designed to build therapeutic relationships and provide early intervention to individuals between the ages of 15 and 25, who are experiencing early symptoms of psychosis. The team will provide coordinated specialty care including intensive intervention, individual, family and group therapy, as well as vocational and educational support to prevent these symptoms from becoming disabling over time. In S.T.R.I.D.E will strive to enhance the individual’s quality of life by assisting them with improving their ability to work, go to school, live independently and have enjoyable relationships.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Young adults between the ages of 15-25
  • Must be a resident of Henrico County, Charles City or New Kent County
  • Has a mental health diagnosis of: Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective, Delusional disorder, Psychosis NOS and Major Depressive disorder or Bipolar disorder with psychotic features
  • Symptoms occurring for more than 1 week and less than 2 years
  • The psychosis cannot be substance induced

The program is designed to provide early intervention services for up to 2 years. At which time, we will either successfully discharge consumers from services or determine the next appropriate level of services. Once an individual begins receiving services through the program, we will continue to work with them until discharge is appropriate. Treatment will be provided until they are able to successfully transition to another level of services or successfully discharge from the program, whichever comes first.
