Henrico County will hold a community meeting Monday, June 1 to present a draft master plan and recommendations to transform the former Best Products headquarters site and nearby Brook Road corridor into a vibrant, walkable gateway with an arena and other uses.

The meeting will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Belmont Recreation Center, 1600 Hilliard Road. The Department of Planning encourages residents and other community stakeholders to attend.

The design firm Able City will present the draft plan and outline next steps, which are expected to include consideration of a “form-based alternative overlay district” for the focus areas.

The recommendations stem from a community workshop, or “charrette,” held in March that identified strategies for new development and reinvestment. The focus areas include Best Products Reimagined, a 320-acre site anchored by the county-owned Best Products headquarters property, and the nearby Brook corridor, a 275-acre area that includes businesses from approximately Magellan Parkway to Hilliard Road.

The draft master plan and proposed overlay district are designed to shape the area as development occurs to accomplish community-identified objectives. They are to create great walkable places; a unique gateway experience; safe, comfortable and interesting streets; an economic center; and more access to nature and quality public spaces.
