OVERVIEW OF RESIDENTIAL SERVICES
Henrico Area Mental Health & Developmental Services provides residential services to adults age 18 and older that are diagnosed with intellectual disabilities. The County of Henrico owns and directly operates four residential homes within the County of Henrico. Currently residential services are provided to twenty individuals. The group homes provide around the clock awake support.
RESIDENTIAL SERVICES PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Residential Services provide 24-hour supervision and support to individuals in a home-like setting. Individual residents require and receive substantial assistance with nearly all aspects of daily living, including personal care, transportation, meal preparation, laundry, cleaning, leisure activities, behavioral development, development of relationships, pursuit of personal interests, and money management.
A Residential Plan for Supports is developed with the participation and input of each individual resident. While much of the assistance provided occurs in the group home, individuals are routinely transported to community activities such as banking, grocery shopping, personal shopping, medical appointments, and leisure activities.
POPULATION SERVED
Services are provided to individuals who wish to live in a group home setting, need assistance with activities of daily living, are 18 years or older, have an intellectual disability diagnosis, receive case management services through Henrico Area Mental Health & Developmental Services, and are residents of Henrico, Charles City or New Kent County. The primary funding for the Residential Program is through the Community Living Waiver and 80% of the resident’s monthly income.
LOCATION AND HOURS
Four group homes provide support and housing to a total of 20 individuals, 365 days a year and are located throughout Henrico County. Individual residents are encouraged to develop and maintain friendships and may come and go from their group home as they wish with appropriate supervision. Overnight (awake) supervision is provided in all of the homes to address individual needs that may occur during these hours.
