Health Department to offer free flu vaccinations in October

The Henrico County Health Department will provide free flu shots at two FluFIT events in October.

Flu vaccinations will be offered from 1 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7 at the Health Department East Clinic, 1400 N. Laburnum Ave., and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23 at the Mount Vernon Adult Education Center, 7850 Carousel Lane.

Both events are open to the public and available to everyone ages 6 months and older.  Parents must accompany minors. Flu shots will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Individuals ages 65 and older are advised that the shots will not be a high-dosage vaccine.

As part of the FluFIT events, Hitting Cancer Below the Belt, a Richmond-based nonprofit organization committed to colorectal cancer prevention in the region and across Virginia, will offer prescreening for colorectal cancer. For more information, go to hcb2.org.
