‘Problems solved, challenges overcome’; Henrico, HCPS lead Virginia with 56 Achievement Awards from National Association of Counties
“The NACo Achievement Awards showcase the tremendous work our departments and dedicated staff do for our community every day,” County Manager John A. Vithoulkas said. “These award-winning programs and initiatives reflect our commitment to excellence in governance and focus on customer service. Whether it’s tackling the affordable housing crisis, promoting pet adoptions, making our transportation system safer, engaging older residents or addressing mental health needs across the community, these awards represent problems solved, challenges overcome and efficiencies achieved.”
Henrico program to combat ageism among care providers earns top award from Virginia Association of Counties
The county also earned an award for “Arrive Alive,” a comprehensive transportation safety program to improve understanding and address patterns of fatal and serious injury crashes across the community.
Summer Ready Resource Fair on March 26 will highlight programs, opportunities for youth
The free event will share information about local programs and activities for youth in kindergarten through 12th grade, including camps, recreational opportunities and career-exploration activities. Youth and families will be able to meet with representatives of county agencies and local organizations to learn about their offerings.
Senior and Caregiver Expo set for March 27 at Deep Run Recreation Center
More than 50 local vendors are expected to participate, including medical care providers, nonprofits, personal care agencies and government programs.

Henrico invites community to ‘Spread the Love’ by creating Valentine’s Day cards for older adults
Schools, faith-based organizations and other groups as well as individuals and families are encouraged to participate by creating cards that will be shared at local nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Cards will be collected through Friday, Feb. 6, and should be generic with an uplifting message in celebration of Valentine’s Day.
