Bethlehem Road Improvements

The County of Henrico will be constructing road improvements on Bethlehem Road between Libbie Avenue and Staples Mill Road. The following improvements will be constructed, including:
- A 3-lane road section.
- Pedestrian improvements include a shared-use path, sidewalk, crosswalks, and ADA ramps.
- A roundabout at the intersection of Libbie Avenue and Bethlehem Road.
Estimated Schedule
- Design began in January 2019.
- Right-of-way acquisition is complete.
- Utility relocations are complete.
- Advertisement for construction is complete.
- Construction is underway.
- Project completion is anticipated in 2027.
Progress to Date
- A citizen information meeting was held at the Libbie Mill Library, 2100 Libbie Lake E. Street, Henrico, Virginia 23230, on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Construction Update
Construction on Bethlehem Road is currently paused.
During utility relocations, a utility line was placed in the incorrect location that interfered with the planned location of a different utility. This paused construction as all project stakeholders began meetings and discussions to determine the best next steps. After considering all options, the team determined that the lines must relocated to the initially intended location, and our teams have been working to schedule this work.
