​​W. Broad St. Pedestrian and Transit Improvements – Forest Avenue to Willow Lawn Drive​

The County of Henrico will be constructing improvements for pedestrian safety and accessibility as well as transit access along W. Broad Street between Forest Avenue and Willow Lawn Drive. The following improvements will be constructed, including:

  • Sidewalk facilities, where currently not installed, on both sides of W. Broad Street
  • Curb ramps and crosswalks
  • Transit stop amenities
  • Intersection modifications
  • Traffic and pedestrian signal improvements

Relationship to Nearby Transit Investments 

GRTC’s Pulse BRT Western Extension Project will introduce bus rapid transit improvements along the Broad Street corridor in the vicinity of this County project. While the two efforts are being advanced independently, the combined investments will enhance mobility options and support a safer, more connected transportation network for residents, businesses, and transit users.  

 

Estimated Schedule: (Month Year)

  • Design development is underway.
  • Right-of-way acquisition is anticipated to begin in 4th Quarter, 2026.
  • Utility relocation is anticipated to begin ​in 2027.
  • Advertisement for construction is anticipated in 2029.
  • Construction is anticipated to begin in 2029.
