Earth Day 2026

Join us for Henrico’s Annual Earth Day Celebration!
Henrico’s Earth Day Celebration is hosted by Recreation and Parks, Keep Henrico Beautiful, and H.E.A.R.T. There’ll be music, outdoor activities for all ages, refreshments available for purchase, and a fashion show from Moody Middle School. Learn about sustainability initiatives and resources available in Henrico County, such as energy efficiency, residential solar, recycling, preserving green space, air quality, and more!
Event Field (Cricket field at the back of the park):
- Fashion Show by Moody Middle School
- Demo Area (Electric Bike Demos by Blue Ridge Cyclery)
- Kids Bike Rides: Join WeeWheel for a bike ride through the trails at Deep Run Park! There are three options: Beginners at 1:30pm; Intermediate at 2:15pm; and Advanced riders at 3pm. They will have bikes and helmets for kids to borrow. (Adults are welcome to join, but please bring your own bike & helmet.)
- Local Vendors
- Flavor Fusion: Fresh squeezed lemonades available for purchase
Activity Field (Located near the pond):
- Live music from Lauren Booth
- Kayaking: RVA Paddlesports returns for the fourth year to offer Paddle in the Park. First-timers are welcome— instructors will be there to help you get started! (Reserve your spot and complete the waiver here.)
- Sensory Area (Hosted by Henrico TR Staff and Jacob’s Chance)
- Craft & Demo (Hosted by Henrico Cooperative Extension)
- Tree Tours (Hosted by Henrico Parks Arborist. Meet at the Recreation and Parks Tent at 12:30pm, 1:30pm, or 2:30pm for a tour.)
- Goatocado: Food available for purchase
Recreation Center (Parking lot):
- Paint Out Pollution (Hosted by HEART/ James River Association). Help paint storm drains using stencils of native animals and various colors of spray paint. You can sign up before or during the event. Please only select one time slot to leave room for others. Information: [email protected]

Free native tree and shrub seedlings
Sat, April 11, Noon-3pm. All Henrico County Public Library locations and Deep Run Park
All ages. Celebrate Earth Day by bringing home a free native tree or shrub! Henricopolis Soil & Water Conservation District encourages community members to support pollinators and the local environment by adding native plant species to their homes. The organization has provided 2,200 seedlings to give away at Earth Day celebrations across the county!

Repair, Reuse, Replant!
Thur, Apr 16, 6-7:30pm. Belmont Recreation Center.
What if giving new life to what you already have could help the planet? We will celebrate Earth Day by reusing, renewing, and regrowing! Bring clothing items that need a little care and learn how to patch tears, sew on buttons, and mend pockets to extend the life of your favorite garments. Also dig into the joy of growing new things by learning about how Keep Henrico Beautiful is propagating common house plants as gifts for teachers. Take home your own cutting in a reused container. TR: From Trash to Treasure
Tue, Apr 21, 10:30-11:30am. Eastern Henrico Rec Center.
Ages 18+. Celebrate Earth Day by creating collages and artwork using recycled materials. Participants will explore creativity and self-expression while transforming everyday items into something new in a fun, inclusive environment. Instructor: Jacob’s Chance. Therapeutic Recreation (TR) programs are adaptive classes designed for those with disabilities or medical conditions. Information: [email protected]
