Care For Those Experiencing Homelessness

Henrico County supports two facilities that, among other services, provide temporary sheltering services for those experiencing homelessness.

The Salvation Army Central Virginia Inclement Weather Shelter – 1900 Chamberlayne Avenue

This facility has the capacity to serve 100 individuals when temperatures reach 92° or above. The Cooling Center is for adults 18 years and older. Hydration and snacks are provided during the operating hours of 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM on days when the temperature is forecasted to be 92° degrees or higher. Persistent extreme heat or other extreme weather might extend these operating hours. The Cooling Center entrance is located at the back of the building, which faces Sledd Street and the U.S. Post Office.

7 North 2nd Street

This Henrico-supported facility is available by referral only.
