  • Healthcare– Henrico County offers three point-of-service plans through Anthem Healthkeepers for full-time and part-time benefit eligible employees. Prescription drug and vision coverage are included. The County provides a supplement toward the cost of health insurance for full-time employees
  • Dental- Henrico County offers three options for dental coverage through Delta Dental of Virginia. All Delta Dental members have access to the Amplifon Hearing Healthcare Program at no additional cost.
  • Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)– Henrico County sponsors pre-tax health care and dependent (day care) flexible spending accounts
  • Life Insurance- For full-time employees, life insurance is a part of the Virginia Retirement System and is 100% paid for by the County. Eligible employees receive 2x their salary in the Basic Group Life Insurance Plan. Optional Life Insurance is available for additional employee coverage and to cover eligible dependents.
  • Disability Insurance- Henrico County offers short-term disability through MetLife with three options of 60% income replacement. VRS Hybrid Plan Members may enroll for one year during their one-year waiting period for the Hybrid Disability Program (at no cost). Full-time employees who are not eligible for the Hybrid Disability Program are automatically enrolled in long- term disability after six months of full-time employment. The benefit may begin on the 91st day following a disability. Employees may purchase additional coverage for a salary of more than $50,000. Hybrid employees are covered under long-term disability after one-year of full-time employment.
  • Voluntary Benefits– Employees may enroll through Pierce Insurance for pre-tax voluntary benefits such as Vision – Materials Only, Group Accident, Group Critical Illness, and Group Hospital Indemnity. Post-tax voluntary benefits include LegalEASE, Identity Theft Protection, Life Insurance with Long Term Care and Pet Insurance.

*Part-time employees in authorized positions receive sick leave, annual leave, and holiday leave in proportion to their actual hours of work

Employees can access various learning opportunities, including classes at the Training Center, instructor-led “live online” classes, asynchronous online learning, videos by our trainers, and much more.

Leadership Henrico (LH)

Supervisory employees can participate in a contemporary leadership development program designed to engage and support Henrico County supervisors in the County Manager’s vision of leadership excellence. The four “Years,” or levels, in the program include elements like:

  • Networking and continuity of connection with county leaders throughout the four Years
  • Mentoring relationships that change and adapt to your needs each Year
  • Guidance on how to support and grow your employees
  • Collaboration with other leaders from all backgrounds and positions
  • Focus on experiences, conversation, learning, and giving back

Emerging Leaders Certification Program (ELCP)

This program provides non-supervisory employees with the framework, tools, and learning experiences to
strengthen their leadership skills, self-awareness, and initiative to deliver customer service The Henrico Way. Participation supports leadership growth in any role; ELCP’s primary purpose is not the promotion of employees into supervisory positions. ELCP participants invest in their own development, support and collaborate with others, and are able to make an impact at every level of the organization.

Tuition Reimbursement and Education Leave

These are offered in some situations in support of employee development and organizational learning objectives.

  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)- The EAP provides professional counselors to full-time and part-time employees and their household members work through challenging life events.
  • Employee Health Services- The EHS clinic provides work-related health services for employees, including pre-employment and routine physicals, examinations, some immunizations, and care for work-related injuries and illnesses. The clinic also offers nonwork-related health services, including blood pressure and blood sugar checks, smoking cessation support and care for strains, sprains, allergy symptoms, eye problems, and minor abrasions
  • Wellness Classes- Employees have access to in-person and online classes to enhance their overall well-being.
  • Fitness Classes and Programming- Employees have access to weekly fitness classes that are led by accredited fitness trainers and available throughout the day to accommodate various work schedules. The trainers also provide coaching and group programming on nutrition and other topics.
  • Discounted Gym Memberships- Employees have access to discounted memberships with some private gyms in the area.
  • Equipment and Facility Use- Employees have access to gyms and fitness equipment at the area recreation centers and the Training Center.
  • Team Henrico Event Discounts- Employees can in some community races and other events at a discounted rate.
