This project will continue development for community recreation amenities and a tournament-level sports complex at Glover Park. Phase I of the park included a master plan of development for the original 90 acres of park land. Henrico County has acquired over 100 acres of park property, through purchase and donation, since the master plan was first adopted and now totals 209 acres. The Phase II Amended Master Plan was adopted by the Board of Supervisors in fall 2022.
Project Description
Community amenities will include:
- County’s largest dog park at 1.75 acres. The dog park will have natural grass with shade structures and seating areas similar to Short Pump Park.
- Robust network of trails to include 3.1 miles of gravel trails that traverse the natural area of the park along the Chickahominy.
- A shared-use path along Lambert Way that will connect to the Fall Line Trail north of the park along Woodman Road.
- Large playground.
- Outdoor exercise stations/fitness area.
- Two synthetic turf multipurpose fields with lighting.
- Two synthetic turf baseball fields built to NCAA regulations with lighting.
- Additional 1,250 parking spaces.
- New park entrance off of Woodman Road.
Progress to Date
June 2024: Construction began.
February 2024: Trees cleared for construction.
January 2024: The Board voted to award a $30.3 million for construction of Phase II at Glover Park to Southwood Building System Inc. $18.1 million was added to the project budget with this award of contract.
2016: Bond Referendum passed by Henrico voters allocating $20 million for this project.
