Project Description:

The County of Henrico is planning to construct roadway safety improvements to reduce vehicular speed and allow safer pedestrian access and connectivity at the intersection of Shady Grove Road and Holman Drive/Shady Hills Way. Improvements will include:

• A roundabout at the intersection with a landscaped center island
• A crosswalk with a median island on the northbound side of Shady Grove Road
• ADA connector ramps
• Receiving sidewalk on the northwest side of the intersection

 

Progress to Date

 

Estimated Schedule: 

• Design is complete
• Right-of-way acquisition is complete
• Utility relocation is not anticipated
• Advertisement for construction is not anticipated
• Construction is complete

 

The County is actively coordinating with the US Postal Service to resume regular USPS mail and package delivery operations as soon as possible. The road closure is scheduled to be lifted on December 23rd, 2025; however, that is subject to change based on inclement weather delays. 

Beginning January 5th, 2026, select sides of the intersection at Shady Grove Road and Holman Drive/Shady Hills Way will be partially closed to complete sidewalk and roadway median construction. Flaggers will be onsite during closures to direct traffic to ensure access. Closures will only be active when necessary and only between the hours of 9:00 am and 3:30 pm. All work in the area is expected to be complete by January 30, 2026 dependent on weather conditions.
