Hire an Off-duty Police Officer
Off-Duty Pay Rates Increasing
Effective October 1, 2024, the off-duty police officer pay rates will be increasing to $50/hour. There is still a 3-hour minimum, for all off-duty assignments. The Sergeants and Lieutenant rates will be combined and supervisors rates will be increasing to $60/hour. Those supervisor rates only apply when an event requires someone of rank and it does not meet the large scale event/permitted event category. There will also still be a $20/hour increase on the holidays and special event dates listed in the below off-duty rate document, making our officer off-duty rates on these dates $70/hour.
Hiring off-duty officer(s) is generally required when you hold any event that requires a permit. Refer to your permit application for the exact number of officers required for your event, dance, parade, marathon, etc. You may call or email the Secondary Employment Officer for more information. NOTE: If you have hired us within the last year, you may need only to complete the application form. Please allow at least five working days to process your request.
