Warrant Letters
Since the 1990s, the Henrico County Police Division’s Records Management Section has worked with the Henrico County Sheriff’s Office’s Warrant Services Unit to notify defendants that an arrest warrant has been issued for their arrest. After the Magistrate has issued a warrant, a warrant letter is mailed to the defendant by the Police Division’s Records Management Section.
When Would You Receive These Letters?
The Police Division will mail a warrant letter for certain misdemeanor crimes.
Outlined in the letter is a request for the defendant to accept service of the warrant (turn themselves in) by going to the Henrico Sheriff’s Office (4317 East Parham Road). The letter will include the name of the defendant, their address and the offense.
Important Information:
Please note, Police Officers and Sheriff’s Deputies will never contact you by phone regarding a warrant for your arrest. They will also never ask for payment in-person to resolve the warrant. Any fines and costs are set by the courts and paid to the courts. The Magistrate’s Office will determine any information regarding bonds. Additionally, due to state law (§19.2-389), the Police Division’s Records Management Section is unable to answer questions pertaining to a wanted subject via telephone.
If you would like to contact a Sheriff’s Deputy to make arrangements to accept service of the warrant, you can call (804)501-4797, Monday-Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
