Youth Police Academy
The Henrico Youth Police Academy is designed to bolster the relationships between law enforcement and youth, while exposing them to a possible future career in law enforcement. During this one-week academy, students will participate in both classroom instruction and practical exercises in which they assume the role of an officer. They will gain insight into the various situations police encounter, and learn how and why officers respond to and handle these situations.

They will meet with and hear from members of special police units and gain a deeper understanding of each unit’s responsibilities and how they work together with patrol officers.
