A Sanitary Sewer Overflow (SSO) is the discharge of wastewater from a sanitary sewer system. SSOs can be caused by a sewer pipe blockage, a break in a pipe, or other circumstances impeding the flow of wastewater within the sanitary sewer system. Henrico County is dedicated to environmental stewardship and to safeguarding waterways and natural resources of our community. We continue to proactively operate, maintain, and renew our existing infrastructure and facilities to make them more reliable, resilient, and sustainable in managing wastewater collection, conveyance, and treatment, and mitigating any overflows. Overflow reports are posted to the map, linked below, following the overflow event. For any questions regarding overflows, please contact us at 804.727.8700.
