Virginia Juvenile Community Crime Control Act (VJCCCA) funds were made available on January 1, 1996 to provide community-based programs to juveniles before the court or involved with the Court Service Units diversion options.
The legislative intent of VJCCCA is to provide “a community-based system of progressive intensive sanctions and services that correspond to the severity of offense and treatment needs.” The purpose is to hold youth accountable, reduce recidivism and emphasize parental responsibility. Prevention services were added to VJCCCA legislation in 2019.
Henrico County currently offers15 programs within its VJCCCA offices that provide services to juveniles and families. Six VJCCCA programs have been identified and are being utilized for our prevention services by referrals from HCPS, HPD and HMH.
