Henrico County has two fitness centers:
Deep Run Recreation Center
Facilities include:

Eastern Henrico Recreation Center
Facilities include:
- Weight room with cardiovascular and strength training machines as well as free weights
- Group exercise studio for structured group exercise classes and/or personal use
- Locker rooms with private shower stalls
- Outdoor running/walking trails that total .80 mile
- Football field with a track (.25 mile) and a soccer field
Fitness Center Hours
- Monday-Thursday: 7am-9pm
- Friday: 7am-8pm
- Saturday: 8am-5pm
- Sunday: 1-5pm
Membership Options
- Individual: $10/month
- Family: $20/month
- College Student: $30 for 3 months (paid in advance)
- Fixed Rate: Pay for as many months as you want up to 12 months.
- *No contracts, no extra fees, and no mandatory orientations.
Group Exercise Access Pass
- A Group Exercise Access Pass is required to participate in any Henrico County Recreation and Parks fitness class.
- Passes must be scanned prior to participation in each, individual class.
- Please note the minimum age for each class.
- Passes are unique to the access pass holder.
- Classes operate on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Maximum capacity is based on the nature of the class and the space being utilized.
- Group Exercise Access Passes are required to be renewed on an annual basis.
- Patrons agree to abide by all Group Exercise rules and regulations.
- Henrico Recreation and Parks reserves the right to revoke access from patrons abusing rules, regulations, and facilities.

Barbell Strength Lab: Squat Rack Mastery
Build real strength with confidence in our Barbell Strength Lab. This focused strength class is designed to teach proper safety and flawless technique for all major barbell exercises performed in the squat rack-including squats, bench press, overhead press, deadlifts and rows. This is deliberate, slower paced strength training session emphasizing quality movement, lower repetitions, and progressively challenging weights. Instructor: Kevin Johnson
Barre
Inspired by elements of ballet, yoga, and Pilates. No dance experience is required! It focuses on low-impact, high-intensity movements designed to strengthen your body but also develop agility, flexibility, and balance. Instructor: Rhonda Jackson-Smith
Chair Yoga for Resilience
This class is perfect for those who prefer not to, or who are unable to, practice on the floor. Class will include a combination of seated poses and standing poses where the chair will be available for support. This class is designed to promote a sense of balance and well-being through slow, mindful movement, breathing practices, and meditation. This class is trauma-informed, accessible, adaptable and open to all levels. Instructor: Morgan Howell
Core and Kettlebells
This class is designed for anyone developing a stronger core and wanting to gain experience using kettlebells. Class will consist of core exercises and balance work. Also getting familiar with kettlebells and learning how to incorporate them into different exercises. Instructor: Dre Williams
Core Flow Yoga
Incorporate traditional yoga poses and breath work emphasizing on developing the power that lies at the core center of the body. Instructor: Jesse Tsui-Huang
Full-Body Restore
An active recovery class designed to release muscle tension, improve joint mobility, and reset your body. This low-intensity session combines guided dynamic stretching, targeted mobility drills, and deep restorative poses to reverse the wear and tear of daily life and intense workouts. Perfect for all fitness levels, it focuses on lengthening tight muscles, opening the hips and shoulders, and calming the nervous system. You will leave feeling lighter, moving better, and completely re-energized. Instructor: Alexis Dabney
Full-Body Strength
A pure resistance training workout designed to build lean muscle, increase bone density, and develop baseline physical power. This class prioritizes heavy compound movements and proper lifting mechanics over fast-paced cardio. By focusing on time-under-tension and progressive overload, Full-Body Strength helps you master foundational movements while safely pushing your physical limits. Instructor: Alexis Dabney
Hatha Yoga
Learn to better manage stress and improve your overall health and well-being by receiving instruction in yoga postures, deep relaxation, deep breathing techniques, and meditation. Instructor: Ed Carpenter
High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)
High-intensity interval training is intended to improve performance with short training sessions. The interval training class is designed to burn fat and build cardio endurance and strength in a short and intense workout. There is a 2:1 ratio of work-to-rest intervals. HIIT is a fast-moving class that quickly builds cardiovascular endurance as well as strength. Instructor: Rhonda Jackson-Smith
Iron Pump
A jam-packed strength training workout that uses and adjustable barbell, weight plates, bodyweight and a step, combined with high-energy music and coaching to build muscle and movement strength. Instructor: Jesse Tsui-Huang
Kickboxing
Kickboxing focuses on the details of our martial arts techniques and body mechanics. Expect a mixture of drills that vary in intensity and style, including but not limited to martial arts, HIIT, strength conditioning, cardio, and stretching. By incorporating various drills and styles we will improve our techniques and performance in kickboxing class. Instructor: Deirdre Turner
Mindful Morning Yoga
Mindful Morning Yoga is designed to promote a sense of balance and well-being through slow, mindful movement, breathing practices, and meditation. This class will include gentle repetition of movement before staying in yoga postures in a way that feels sustainable and nourishing for everyone. This class is trauma-informed, accessible, adaptable and open to all levels. Beginners are welcome and encouraged. Instructor: Morgan Howell
Monday Mobility
Get your day started with an overall total body workout. This will include a warm-up and cool-down with mobility, upper and lower body strength and core exercises in between. Learn some new and exciting ways to “wake-up” your muscles and gain flexibility and strength. All the exercises taught can be used anywhere. Instructor: Kevin Johnson
Pilates
This low impact class features classic Pilates exercises, utilizing isometrics and body weight, strengthening and elongating muscles, building core strength, and promoting spinal alignment. Class is appropriate for beginners as well as Pilates enthusiasts. Mats are provided for use, or bring your own if preferred. Instructor: Deirdre Turner
PITAIYO
Pilates, Tai Chi, and Yoga disciplines in a fusion class like no other! This signature class delivers whole-body conditioning, enhancing not only your body but your mind and spirit! No experience is necessary. We will build together to create body awareness and create movement and strength. This class will be taught by one of the developers and founders of PITAIYO. Senior Balance and Core
This class is designed to strengthen those muscles that help with balance and posture. Come learn how to improve overall fitness, fall and injury prevention, or sports performance. Instructor: Fitness Staff
Senior Wellness
Come and get moving with a class that is designed to work on improving overall physical well-being. This class will use different exercise modalities, such as joint mobility, resistance, and flexibility training to improve overall mobility, and strength to help with everyday life. Instructor: Fitness Staff
Small Group Training
If you enjoy the motivation of group exercise classes but want a more personalized exercise approach join our Small Group Training class. Small Group Training merges group exercise with personal training. Each training session focuses on movements and exercises that will help you lose fat, build strength, endurance, and muscle tone. Please meet in the Deep Run Fitness Center. Instructor: Fitness Staff
Total Body Conditioning (TBC)
A high-energy, full-body workout designed to build strength, improve endurance, and elevate your fitness. This class combines resistance training, cardio intervals, and core work to challenge every major muscle group. Using a variety of equipment like dumbbells, resistance bands, and bodyweight movements, you will move through a dynamic sequence that keeps your heart rate up and your muscles working. Total Body Strength (TBS)
Full-body conditioning using a variety of bodyweight and equipment addressing compound movements for functional strength; high concentration of abdominal and core work. Instructor: Janice Shaheen
TriFit
This all-encompassing class is segmented into cardio, resistance-training, and stretching portions to satisfy your aerobic, strengthening and flexibility needs. Weights, resistance bands, and various fitness equipment will be used to keep the class fun and challenging. Modifications will be given to accommodate all fitness levels. Instructor: Deirdre Turner
Well-Being Tai Chi
Tai Chi Yang Style was founded by Master Yang Lu-Ch’an in the mid-1800s. Tai Chi has been described as a moving yoga. As a form of gentle exercise and moving meditation, Tai Chi offers a wealth of benefits for both the body and mind. This class is open to all levels of fitness. Instructor: Perry Li
Yoga Sculpt
A Yoga class that combines traditional yoga poses with strength and cardio training exercises. It aims to improve flexibility, strength and cardiovascular health. Instructor: Jesse Tsui-Huang

Outdoor Fitness
Exercise Trails
There are exercise trails at a few of our parks, with more to come. Here is the current list of where you can find equipment outside.
Exercise in the Park
This is a fitness program designed to offer an outdoor workout experience in the parks. These workouts will be full-body and cardio specific using the parks fitness equipment, trails and other exercise equipment. Recommended for ages 13+.
We will move around to the following parks for these workouts: Bethlehem, Cheswick, Deep Run, and Twin Hickory. The programs will run from 10:30-11:15am. Use the link below to find the full listing of classes.

Yoga in the Park
Wednesdays. September 9-November 5. 6-7pm. Westwood Park. Recommended for ages 13+.
This 60-minute Slow Flow Class offers an accessible Vinyasa practice. Practitioners will join to link breath with movement in a peaceful community space. We’ll move through rhythmic sequences designed to generate strength, mobility, and grounding, with modifications offered throughout. This series invites you to begin or grow your authentic practice—honoring the deeper aspects of yoga while integrating them into your modern life. Learn how to find greater connection, balance, and presence both on and off the mat through this class.
Bring a yoga mat and water bottle. Class is dependent on weather.

Fall Fitness Walks
Get ready to move, explore, and have fun on the weekends as we adventure through Henrico’s amazing parks. Experience miles of beautiful trails, boost your wellness, and make every step count with our energizing Wellness Walks. Let’s get out there—your next great walk starts here!
Hosted by Henrico County Fitness & Wellness and Recreation & Parks. A staff representative from each department will be present to assist with the walks.
Walks are held rain or shine and will meet on Saturdays at 8am at the following locations:
